About the Role

Function: Finance. Level: Executive Management. Permanent. Onsite. Location: Harare, Zimbabwe. Experience: 10 years at a similar level.

Provide strategic financial leadership to a large, capital-intensive mining entity (fund-raising coordinated with the Mutapa Investment Fund): oversee all financial aspects of the company, safeguard its financial integrity, optimise liquidity and capital allocation, lead major funding and refinancing initiatives, strengthen governance and controls, and support the CEO and Board on value creation, transaction-readiness, investor relations and long-term growth.

Key responsibilities:
- Financial planning: formulate targets and budgets in line with Board strategy; coordinate long-term budgetary planning and cost management; oversee budget implementation and report financial metrics internally and externally.
- Treasury, funding and capital markets: manage cash flow and forecasting; develop a reliable cash-flow process with a minimum cash threshold; optimise banking relationships; oversee all fund-raising initiatives with the Mutapa Investment Fund; lead refinancing and debt restructuring; negotiate loan facilities, bond issuances, project financing and structured commodity finance; prepare the finance function for listing-readiness and investor engagement.
- Financial control: provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and Board; engage the Board Audit & Risk and Finance & Investments Committees; ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS and regulatory requirements; liaise with external auditors; manage tax planning; set up and oversee internal control systems; manage capital structure (debt and equity), acquisitions and disposals.
- Strategic planning and growth: secure funding for expansion, mergers, acquisitions and major capex; lead financial due diligence, valuation and transaction structuring; build financial models and investment cases for mine development.
- Business and IT systems: ensure appropriate business systems are in place and fully used; secure internal and external communications; manage cyber-security risk controls.
- Board and reporting: deliver all books of accounts and records on request; coordinate and manage all financial reporting.
- People leadership: mentor and develop the finance team; manage work allocation, performance and training.

Must-have skills: capital allocation and project financing; commodity hedging and risk management; operational cost control; ESG and sustainability management; investor relations; cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

- Chartered Accountant; degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least ten (10) years of professional experience at a similar level.
- MBA / CFA and capital-markets experience an added advantage.
